Hi! I’m Rebecca.
I am 36 years old and this blog is my way of reaching out and sharing my successes, failures, worries and inspirations with other women. I have realized over the years that there are so many things I wish I knew earlier, so much advice I wish I received, and so many failures I coud have learned from if I had been aware of the root cause. Honestly, I just feel like we can all learn so much from one another and I want to try to be a part of that.
My sisters have always made fun of me because even at a young age, I always took an interest in money. I was always setting my sights on something I wanted and saving every penny of my allowance until I had enough to purchase it. I was motivated by the fact that every time I made a deposit into my Key Bank savings account, I got a little plastic dinosaur…those were the days. That interest (more of an obsession for a while) has since turned into a deep interest in finance and helping my friends and family budget and work towards building wealth for the future.
But trust me, it wasn’t a smooth path to get here. I spent the majority of my 20’s having way too much fun and buying way too many material posessions that resulted in a pile of debt and instability. One day I decided it was enough and I made a series of decisions that ultimately resulted in being debt-free by 34 and being more motivated than ever to focus on my future.
On my path to build wealth, I have attempted to start a number of my own businesses, all while working my 9-5. These have all stemmed from my passion for creating; primarily in creating apparel and jewelry. My mother gifted me a sewing machine in my early 20s and I was certain I was going to start my own clothign brand. I made a number of dresses, hired a photographer, built a website….and then realized that my idea was not sustainable on a number of levels. Honestly I was pretty discouraged after that so it was multiple years before I tried anything new. It wasn’t until I stumbled upon a metalsmithing workshop in town that I discovered how much I loved making jewelry. Ten years later and I am still making jewelry today.
What does any of this have to do with anything? Well…as one might guess…a love for apparel and jewelry does not always go hand-in-hand with financial stability and keeping an active budget. SO, I am here to share my knowledge and experience about finance to not only help you become debt free and create a budget that actually WORKS, but to help you figure out how to do this all while still enjoying your life, rewarding yourself, traveling, splurging here and there, and looking and feeling good.
Oh, and honestly I just really want to help bring some inspiration to those of us who really just need someone to remind us to get up and make sh*t happen.
Today is day one. Let’s start to make some changes. You’ve got this.
XO, Becca
